100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Lip Glaze Review

I’m always looking for “greener” cosmetics to explore since I have sensitive skin that can react to something within hours. A few days ago I got some goodies from 100% Pure. Here is my review of their popular Fruit Pigmented Lip Glazes. You read that right, fruit pigmented. This means that the color comes only from antioxidant-rich fruits & vegetable pigments; no synthetic dyes or minerals. Their website says that “antioxidants and vitamins in fruits are in the actual color, so you will be applying all the healthy nutrients of the fruits directly on your skin!” Pretty nifty, right? I got two glazes: Lychee & Peach.

I’m always wary of introducing any new lip products to my routine. I gave a little lip history in a previous post, but basically, I’m allergic to Vitamin E and most of its derivatives. After chatting with Hanna from 100% Pure, I found out that their Vitamin E is gluten-free and derived from cold pressing rice bran. Now I don’t exactly know what that means, but it sounds top-grade, right? She said that Tocopherol is what you typically find in drugstores. What I do know is that my lips didn’t react to these glazes. Not even an itch. I was so happy!

First off, let’s talk about the MakeUpAlley rating. These glazes rank 4/5 lippies based on 21 reviews, with an 80% “would buy again” rate. Those are some pretty impressive stats from gurus who know their way around cosmetics. Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty. The packaging is sleek. Its mirrored silver exterior is nice to look at. One reviewer on MUA noted that it looks like a tampon. I don’t have a problem with that, because it fits nicely in my hand and in my purse. There is a faint smell, but nothing offensive. The consistency is creamy and easy to blend. The first layer is sheer, it only takes a few more swipes to get to a bold level. With any lipstick, I usually go about an hour and a half before wanting to dab on some Chapstick. I found these to be extra moisturizing; I made it ~4 hours before wanting any Chapstick at all. I was actually able to eat/drink without significant color loss. I think these are almost a cross between a lipstick and a balm stain in that you get the color payoff and the sheen, but you also get longevity. These leave a nice true-to-color stain on your lips after a few hours. But the best part about these glazes for me is the fact that I don’t react to them. I can wear these as long as I want, reapplying maybe twice throughout the day. I am very pleased with the performance of these glazes.

First up, we have Lychee. The websites describes it as “neutral naked pink.” I would agree with this; this is a really nice “natural” pink. It’s definitely not a statement color, but it’s a nice classic to have. This would be good to wear when you’re looking to draw focus elsewhere, like your eyes. I could see this working on almost all skin tones. Perfect for every day or work situations.

And then we have Peach, described as a “blushing peach.” Let me tell you why I love this color. I’ve been watching my redheaded best friend try on orange and coral lippies and looking so fab in them; but when I try on similar colors, it just looks off. Like I think I’m Nicki Minaj or something. Not with this, my friends! This peach is my cute, bright, off-pink alternative to a regular color. It’s sweet and not too “out there” like the orange/corals on me. I am in love. I would totally wear this when I’m feeling my sassiest.

You get a little less product per tube than you would in your typical MAC lipstick, but these are 100% vegan and gluten-free. What more could you ask for? I personally love these glazes, and would love to expand my collection! I can’t wait to try more colors. And with the whole not-being-allergic-thing… dare I say it, are these possibly HG status? I think they might be! I highly recommend these babies–take a look at their color selection, I’m sure there’s something for everyone!
